T22 $10 1861 PF-2 Cr. 152 PCGS Banknote Very Fine 25. CC.

58,860 notes of this type were issued between November 13, 1861 and May 15, 1862. Printed by Southern Bank Note Company (the New Orleans branch office of ABNCo), the design used pre-war vignettes as an expedient to compress delivery lead times. While this note has seen some circulation, it displays excellent color of the orange counters and protectors. The paper is bright and shows bold signatures, with a "Small Edge Tear" cited by PCGS Banknote. The C plate was one note on a sheet of four that also included T15 plate A, T19 plate A, T22 plate C, and T31 plate C. The plate letter C T22s are in the same rarity range as the T15 and T19 notes. Plate letter C notes of this number are also the key to completing a plate letter set for this design. This variety is very rare in true VF or better. Heritage Auctions just sold an uncancelled example at this same grade level for $1,140.
